Santa’s Workshop

Santa’s Workshop, Saturday, December 9^th 2022 from 9am to 11:00am (Snow date is December 10th at 11 am. Check our Facebook page if there is a storm to see if we have postponed.)

Annually, on the second Saturday in December, St. Luke’s Santa’s Workshop provides community children with an affordable alternative to shopping for gifts during the holidays. Adults are asked to remain in the kitchen enjoying complimentary refreshments while children are invited to shop for their loved ones—and gift wrapping is provided!

Be a part of Santa’s Workshop, you can help too…

As always, we are in need of holiday gift bags (large and extra-large sizes) for wrapping items since they are most popular. Bags are the fastest & easiest way for young people to wrap gifts for everyone on their list; the kids love selecting bright colors and festive holiday designs! Spare bags, tissue, ribbons, tape, stickers, and tags are always welcomed.

We are also in need of items for men & to add to gift bundles such as: mittens & gloves, scarves, hats, socks, wallets, gift certificates, ice scrapers, tools, & individually wrapped cocoas, coffees, teas, chocolates, nuts & candies.

Each year we also need a large crew of ‘elf volunteers’ to assist with the pre-sale setup and others to help on the day of Santa’s Workshop. Setup day volunteers help clean, package, and price gifts while arranging tables & materials. Sale day we need quite a few folks wrapping those gifts, greeting & directing guests, and helping with refreshments.

The people of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wilton, Maine, acknowledge that the land our building of worship occupies may well have been ground that the Amessoukanti people inhabited and called home for centuries. We sincerely regret the turmoil and pain caused by the displacement of the Indigenous people from their homeland and the ongoing inequality, disrespect, and violence they endure. We hope to help restore our relationship with the Indigenous people by listening to and learning from them and by respecting their traditions, religions, relationship to the land and languages. Furthermore, we join the diocesan Committee on Indian Relations in recognizing the sovereignty of the Wabanaki people of Maine over their lands, something which all federally recognized Indian tribes have.
